Well, this was quite a week! I hope everyone made it through safely. We were incredibly fortunate not to be as severely impacted as our fellow islands. My heartfelt thoughts go out to those on Maui and Oahu — the devastation there is truly saddening.
I would like to take a moment to recognize some members of our community who stepped up when it mattered most: Rich Willing, John Segala, Mark Hauanio, Michael Hauanio, Brian Hosang, Dan (our “backhoe man”), Moe Stiebel and Richard Anderson for helping pass out food cards to the community today.
These individuals were out in the storm clearing trees from roadways, using heavy equipment to move large debris, and making sure key access and safety routes remained open. They went through the neighborhood assessing damage and responding quickly to what needed to be done.
They didn’t post about it. They didn’t wait to be asked. They just showed up and did the work.
Mahalo to everyone who acted when it counted. Your efforts made a real difference for this community.
